France more innovative and attractive for talents in 2021
The eighth edition of the Global Talent Competitiveness Index (GTCI), published by the INSEAD Business School, Accenture and the Portulans Institute, places France in 19th position out of the 134 countries that were analyzed in 2021, going ahead of Japan, which loses a place.
This index measures the capacity of a country to attract, produce and retain talents. Ranked 24th in 2017, then 21st since 2018, France has now entered in the Top 20, notably due to its progression in the league table of the most innovative countries, where it is ranked 11th this year.

France’s key strengths are the quality of its Grandes Écoles and universities, as well as its infrastructures in the field of telecoms and information technology. For the first time, it also occupies 12th place for its capacity to retain talent on its territory and even manages to make French talent who had gone away to train abroad to come back, thanks notably to an excellent ranking for quality of life (3rd).
Switzerland, Singapore and the United States make up the podium of the rankings.
