Student residence permit

Foreign nationals wishing to study in France can be issued with a long-stay visa equivalent to a “Student” residence permit that exempts them from obtaining a residence permit for the first year of their stay. At the end of the first year, for students who continue their studies, the Préfecture will issue a multi-year residence permit, for up to four years.
