First edition of “Club Canada”
The “Club Canada: how to establish yourself in Canada and France” event, which was organized for the first time at the headquarters of Business France in Paris and in partnership with the France-Canada Chamber of Commerce, took place on Tuesday, December 6, 2022.
“Club Canada” addressed both Canadian investors already present in France or looking to establish themselves here and French businesses seeking to export to Canada.
The event began with a general introduction bringing together all the partners who make the Franco-Canadian and Franco-Quebec economic relationship live and prosper. For this launch session, “Club Canada” 2022 was able to count on the exceptional participation of:
– Olivier Becht, Minister Delegate with responsibility for Foreign Trade, Economic Attractiveness and French Nationals Abroad.
– Didier Boulogne, Chief Operating Officer at Business France.
– Stéphane Dion, Canadian Ambassador to France.
– Michel Miraillet, French Ambassador to Canada.
– Michèle Boisvert, Delegate General of Quebec in France.
– Gordon Wyant, Minister of Advanced Education for the Government of Saskatchewan, Canada.
Following this general introduction, Marie-Cécile Tardieu, Chief Operating Officer at Business France at the Investment Division, and Frédéric Rossi, Director of the North American Area at Business France, led the “Invest in France” session, which was co-organized by the France-Canada Chamber of Commerce.
Bringing together some forty participants, including both representatives of major Canadian businesses and representatives of France’s regions, this attractiveness sequence was divided into two panels.
The first panel addressed the theme of France’s economic and sustainable development, with a focus on the ecological transition and infrastructures; there was the opportunity to listen to testimonials from McCain Foods, the Quebec Deposit and Investment Fund (CDPQ) and Boralex.
The second panel, entitled “How to set up and strengthen your international presence from France”, focused on the theme of recruiting talent.
Daniel Jouanneau, President of the France-Canada Chamber of Commerce, concluded the session by underlining the fact that it is now obvious for Canadian investors to turn to France.
Key figures: In 2021, 55 investment projects by Canadian businesses were recorded in France, an increase of nearly 25% compared with 2020.
And that same year, 11,500 businesses exported €3.6 billion worth of goods to Canada from France, an increase of 15% compared with 2020.
The “Club Canada” event has benefited from the support of many sponsors, including Fragomen and Shubert Collin Associés, who were present at the attractiveness sequence.
