Renaud Muselier, President of the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur Regional Council and Deputy President of the Regions of France; Jean-Pierre Farandou, Chairman and CEO of SNCF; Alain Di Crescenzo, President of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CCI) France; and Marie-Cécile Tardieu, Chief Operating Officer at Business France (Investment division), all took part in a round table at the Congress of the Regions of France entitled “France 2030, the challenges of a sovereign France at the heart of our regions”.

When we talk today about sovereignty, it’s not a word synonymous with withdrawal: it’s also played out internationally,” said Marie-Cécile Tardieu, before highlighting the synergy between the arrival of foreign investors and the emergence of new technologies in France.

Due to the current global climate and the increase in risks, Ms. Tardieu also stressed the need to support SMEs and mid-size companies now more than ever. This consists of the sharing of market information with businesses, access to modern resources and business awareness, thanks to the VIE international internship program.

Finally, as part of the “Let’s transform France at the heart of our regions” tour, Ms. Tardieu said that particular attention will be paid to “the acceptance of France’s regions”, with the aim of establishing the link between foreign investors who are interested in France’s regions and the areas in which they may want to set up their businesses.

During the Congress, several other issues were discussed, such as the essential role played by Europe in pursuing regional development and the ecological transition, which involves expanding rail supply and introducing energy-saving measures.
